Very good imaging performance with high resolution and contrast across the entire image field at maximim aperture and over the focal-length range - this lens bears comparison with the very best fixed focal length optics. Coma and spherical aberration are low, and can be largely eliminated by stopping down slightly. Illumination across the image field is consistent at all focal lengths, and in the close-up range down to 1.1 meters (43.25 in), the lens achieves a magnification of 1:3.9. Thanks to its compact size, it is light weight. And this, combined with its smooth focusing, makes it a universal travel lens. It is great in combination with the Leica 21-35 mm and 35-70 mm- with just three lenses you can cover a 10X focal-length range, and achieve consistently high picture quality.
